himbil

summer was fun...it will snow tomorrow, but i still have to go to work.

baydim

santa is approaching yet again. i was telling dad that for some reason i ve been thinking it ll be 2007 next, not 2006.why? i ve no clue. i decided to stay home and drink champagne and eat turkey.taksim is disgusting. all the streets are being dug up and the trees replaced by stupid pots. being outside in newyears dont make sense anyways-unless you re in rio or some island...hm , thatt d be nice...i used to think christmas and newyears were the same..new years is actually celebrated like christmas in turkey. but i was pretty sad when i found out years before that santa came during christmas, not new years..i think that was when new years lost its childhood fun for me. also, i m pissed that it has to be on saturday this year, which makes the next day a sunday, which is already a holiday. next year though, it ll be on thursday i think...

blog marathon

herr hausen die binder (her havuzun dibi aynidir). i remeber, i had painted the walls of my room this color during my sophomore year...which was a total mistake. made me feel like i was in a place like this (bkz. the picture) its good for an art installation but not to sleep in. also, one part of the wall was all glass, so i had to cover it with black cardboard. which totally messes up your feng shui...i do believe in feng shui, because i once had nightmares having put my bed so that my head was facing the door. it was scary.

i miss chicken

it sucks to be deprived of chicken meat. no one eats it in istanbul because of the bird flu madness going on, and i miss eating it more and more. we have some in the freezer that we got before the flu started. i think i m gonna eat that tonite. bon apetit, oya!!!

shameinnnnnnnnn

a picture i have taken of my cousin last winter...reading his favorite book with his favorite t shirt and favorite pair of glasses...i can't believe i used to actually wear those glasses. i had painted their rims with purlple glittery nail polish to make them look cool.

end of summer..duhhhhhhhhhhh

i was gonna name the posts title "end of summer", but then i realized that summer ended like 3 months ago. well, the reason why i felt like saying that is because i just started work 2 weeks ago. life was like "summer vacation"- no matter what the temperatures were. it feels weird but good to be back in istanbul. especially after my hectic "job search" adventures, i am happy to be settled in one place. even my dreams confirm it. you can read about them in http://fuzzywinks.blogspot.com/. my turkish needs to get better, but then, it was never that good anyways. i realized my accent is changing , being among the people in the office. i wonder if my sister or friends abroad will realize when they come back...hmmmm. the otehr day, i was gonna say "it sounds spooky", but i could only think of translating that sentence as "spooky sound ediyo"...so i ended up saying "spooky...mrmrmr"- i said "spooky" and then i slowly had to faze my voice out...which sounded super silly i bet. the spooky sound was coming from downstairs in our office building. there's an aikido studio, and everyone said "hai" at the same time. our building shakes whenever they practice

coolest thing ever

i find the japanese sewage/electricity workers to be the coolest thing ever.their uniforms are so pretty, and the cone lights they have around at nighttime looks so cool.i cannot find words to describe it, but its super inspiring. i really like the irridescent fabric and the plastics. i dont know if i find it just materially appealing, or theres like a hidden unconscious reason for me to like it as well...

look whos drowning

or are they???? i must admit i was a bit shocked when i came up close to this pool. it was situated in the courtyard of a museum in kanazawa. i thought that they were being fashionable by putting a completely useless pool in the middle of the museum s courtyard, when i realized there were people peeing up at me!the funniest part was that i was able to make eye contact through the running water with some random person (he was a bit annoying actually), who waved at me non stop. maybe he thought i was someone else. after all, its not easy to recognize people when you re inside a swimming pool. the rest of the museum had exhibits by bjorks husband. i forgot his name.mathew barney maybe...i didnt like his stuff much. just the pictures were cool. i went to another exhibit of his in guggenheim. i touched part of one if his sculptures, thinking it was resin. then i realized it was just vaseline. my whole finger got covered in it.maybe thats why i dont like his stuff so much...

disco bowling

disco bowling in shibuya. i dont think i was that bad at it.we went to a building with various games at each floor, like 'pin pong' floor, 'bowling ' floor, etc. we choose the more fancy 'disco bowling' floor, where you get to play bowling in a glow in the dark room. theres no music, except when someone decides to play the juxebox. the worst part was the bowling shoes they made you wear though. none of us had socks on, and the shoes must have been worn by some hundred stinky feet before us. ugh.the naxt day my hand hurt, but it was the opposite hand (not the bowling hand, which was weird).

toilet poetry

i had to take a picture of this...its dangerous to have camera on your cell phone. you wanna take pictures of everything. but they make a loud sound which you cannot turn off, so that people cannot take pictures of other people without letting them know.anyways on that roll of toilet paper there was a poem like this: "we have a secret garden that has beautiful flowers all the year round on the hill".i found that very inspiring.

asakusa samba

we went to asakusa samba festival today.it was basically an advertisement of a bigger festival that takes place in april. apparently, japan and brazil have a special relationship that calls for a unique celebration.the dancers we saw were all japanese.it was funny to see japanese samba dancers in eyptian costumes (they had egyptian samba theme).the picture u see is my cell phone desk top picture now. we were at an okinawan restaurant. they had tiny dead fish to put your chopsticks on. so i decided to place the head of the fish on some edamame shell...the guys next to that is mr. tofu and his son.
